Get the Look: May Montly Setup

Get the Look: May Montly Setup

Edited my post 7/14: Oops.  I had this written up at the end of May and just never finished it.  Then life got chaotic.  Summers, you know?  I'll be posting May, June, AND July soon! <3

It's almost June, but better late than never, right? (And that's the attitude I'm taking while I'm still waiting for Debut, TV!). I knew when my vacation fell over the start of May that if I didn't get the May setup done before I left it would be delayed--but unfortunately the packing gods got me again and I failed to do so.  I didn't intend for it to be this late though, so my apologies if you were anxiously awaiting this series!  June will be following fairly shortly! (I finished my June layout on our weekly lives this week.) Until then, enjoy how I set up May!

If you're new here, you may not know that I'm taking this year's 12 months and making each one themed to one of Taylor Swift's 12 albums! So far we've had: Rep, Speak Now, TLOAS, and Fearless! Up this month: Taylor's self titled album, Taylor Swift (Or Debut)!  (June's theme is Lover btw!) To me, Debut always evokes the perfect spring vibe: warmer days, flowers blooming, driving down the road a little too fast with the windows down and the radio all the way up, so I had to squeeze it in before Spring turns to Summer.

First,

This was set up basically the way I do all my Monthly cover pages.  I use 2 Archer and Olive Notepad Dot Grid Sheets.  I start with the Friendship Bracelets Monthly Header Stencil (This time May-Aug!), and then used the Journaling Basics Stencil on the left page to make the small, quick reference calendar. Then, I used a variety of stencils to fill in with Debut vibes! Stencils used were the Football Pattern Stencil, Butterflies Pattern Stencil, Musical Eras Volume 2 Stencil, Music Notes Pattern Stencil, Guitars and Music Bars Stencil, Flames Stencil, Open Hexagon Pattern Stencil, and Raindrops Pattern Stencil.  I try to get as many things that fit the monthly theme on the page and use colors that represent it too! To pull it all together, I used stickers from some of my favorite sticker shops--more on those at the end!

After setting up my cover pages, I use the pages in my actual journal to put my larger monthly calendar.  Here is where I'll put my month at a glance details--Birthdays, events, bills due, etc. To form the foundation of my calendar, I used our Brush Boxes calendar Builder A5 Stencil.  I cover up the boxes of the week/month that don't fit the month and then use a few colors blended together to give a watercolor look. Around the calendar, I used the Open Hexagon Pattern Stencil, Butterflies Pattern Stencil, Musical Eras Volume 2 Stencil, Music Notes Pattern Stencil, Raindrops Pattern Stencil, and Flames Stencil once again to continue with the Debut vibes. These, accompanied by stickers from some of my fave shops finished off my May monthly calendar!

On the inside flaps of my notepad pages, I make two spreads-one a gratitude tracker, and the other-seen here--a mood tracker. For this month's mood tracker, I used the Raindrops Pattern Stencil and the Guitar from the Musical Eras Volume 2 Stencil to create 31 spots to track my mood! This is done simply in pen, then numbered 1-31. Throughout the month, I'll use mildliners to fill in the color coordinating to the mood for the day!

For the second page of the inside of my notepad pages, I make a "One Good Thing a Day" tracker. I started doing this when my Dad passed and I realized sometimes its just a matter of one single good thing a day to hold onto. I write down at least one thing in the day that made me happy.  Sometimes it's as simple as getting off of work or taking a nap, and others it's a huge trip, a concert, or a great day with friends.  For this month, I used The Butterflies Pattern Stencil, Washi from Creativity and Ink, and a pen to give myself a lot of space to write all the good things that come into my life.

Throughout this whole series, it's the stickers and other planner things that help to pull together the actual Taylor Swift theme of these monthly pages. For this month, I used a bunch of different Debut coded stickers from some of my favorite Swifite shops! First up, for the stickers, I used the Debut Era Planner Sticker Sheet from The Sticker Party, the Debut Era Decoration Character Planner Sticker Sheet from Adorably Amy Designs, and Various stickers from the Debut Collection from Sugar Pop Fizz.  I also used Debut themed washi from Creativity & Ink, though this is currently unavailable on their site.  To attach the notepad pages to the notebook, I used 20mm Tipin Tape from Lauren Phelps Designs. Finally, I also used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in various shades to make the stencils pop!

That's it for this month!  As I said before, because this is so late, there's a lot of things that aren't here that should be! As soon as the live is uploaded of me putting this look together, I'll drop the link here.

Finally, the blog posts for June and July will be up soon!

Thanks for tuning in & sticking with me!
